In the casino game roulette, the objective is to guess where the ball will land after each spin, and luck plays a major role in roulette. Roulette players play against the house, and the croupier (the dealer) represents the house. The croupier spins the roulette wheel while also responsible for the wagers and payouts. In European and French roulette, the roulette wheel has 37 slots for 36 numbers and a zero. In American roulette, roulette wheels have two zeros and 38 slots.
Play procedure
1) First, start playing the game of roulette by placing your bet on one or more numbers.
2) Select any number including the zero in the table layout, or outside the table layout. After everyone placed their bets, the dealer launches the ball.
3) As long as the ball is spinning players can still place bets. When it is about to drop over the slots, you will hear the croupier cry 'no more bets'.
4) The croupier places the dolly on the winning number on the roulette table, then pulls off all the losing bets and pays the winners.
5) The winners are the players whose roulette bets are on or around the number that comes up when the ball lands.
The house advantage On a European or French roulette table the house advantage is 2.7%. On an American roulette table the house advantage is 5.26% (7.9% on the five-number bet, for example, 0-00-1-2-3).
The 'En Prison' rule En Prison means in prison. When playing roulette and the ball lands on a zero, some casinos allow the roulette player to take back 50% of their bet or leave the bet for another roulette spin. This is En Prison. If the outcome of the next spin, the is again zero, then the full bet is lost.
The ' La Partage' rule Similar to the En Prison rule, only in this case whenthe ball lands on a zero, the player loses half their bet and does not have the option of leaving their bet En Prison for another spin.
The payouts A roulette bet is a bet on one and only number. This is called a straight-up bet, and pays 35 to 1. In other words, you collect a payout of 36. With no house advantage, you should collect 37 (payout of 38 in the USA on double zero roulette wheels). A 2-number bet is called a split bet, and it pays 17 to 1. A 3-number bet called street bet, and it pays 11 to 1. A 4-number bets called corner bet, and it pays 8 to 1. A 6-number bets pays 5 to 1. Bets on the outside dozen or column, pays 2 to 1. Bets on the outside even money bets, pays 1 to 1.
