Craps is confusing to new craps players. Primarily, you should understand that Craps is a basically a game of rounds. The Come Out roll is the first roll in a round. Sometimes the outcome of a round will be decided on the Come out roll. If a 2, 3, 7, 11, or 12 is rolled on the Come out roll, it immediately ends a round. When any other total number is rolled (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) it is called the Point .
The round's first roll of the dice is called the Come Out roll. The come out roll is made when the previous shooter fails to make a winning roll, they failed to make the Point or seven out.
All of the players at the Craps table get a chance to shoot the dice. If you don't want to throw the dice, you are free to bet on the thrower.
The dice are rolled across the craps table layout. The craps table layout is divided into three - two side areas separated by a center area. Each side area is the reverse of the other and contains the following elements: Odds bet, Place bets and Field bets, Pass and Don't Pass line bets, Come and Don't Come bets. The Proposition bets is in the center area and is shared by the two side areas.
Winning/losing plays
Winning plays Pass Bets - the come out roll is 7 or 11.
Losing pass bets - the come out roll is 2, 3, or 12.
Don't Bets lose when the "come out" roll is either a 7 or 11.
Don't Bets win when the "come out" roll is either a 2 or 3.
Don't bets tie - the come out roll is 12. In some casinos a 2; the 'Bar' roll on the layout shows which roll is treated as a tie.
Kinds of bets at Craps
Pass Line Bet - win if the initial roll is a natural (7, 11) and lose if it is craps (2, 3, 12).
Odds on Pass Line Bet - After a point is rolled make this additional bet by taking odds. There are different payoffs for every point.
Come Bet -the same rules as the Pass Line bet, make this bet only after the point on the pass line has been determined.
Odds on Come Bet - the same bet as Odds on Pass Line , with the only difference that you take odds on the Come Bet, not on the Pass Line bet.
Don't Pass Line Bet - a reversed Pass Line bet. If the first roll of a dice is a 2 or a 3 you win and if it is a natural (7, 11) you lose.
Don't Come Bet - reversed Come Bet. After the come point is established a win is if a 2 or 3 is rolled, and a lose is 7 or 11.
Place Bets - works only after the point has been determined. Place a bet on a dice roll of 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10. 8 pays 7:6. Cancel this bet anytime you want to.
Field Bets - for one dice (one roll of two dice) roll only. If a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 12 is rolled you win. A 5, 6, 7 and 8 you lose. Big Six, Big Eight Bets - at any roll of dice these bets. Win if a 6 or 8 rolls out before a 7 is rolled. In the case of Big Six and Big Eight, they are considered even bets and are paid at 1:1.
